Jan. 5th, 2019 11:36 am I have no pictures, because it's been a while since I made these. But at the request of
formidablepassion and
thayer the family cinnamon roll recipe.
Adapted from Betty Crocker's Sweet Roll recipe in the 1957 cookbook
For the Dough:
In large mixing bowl, combine water and yeast; stirring to dissolve. Stir in milk, sugar, salt, eggs, shortening and half of the flour. Mix with spoon until smooth. Add enough remaining flour to handle easily; mix with hand. Turn onto lightly floured board; knead until smooth and elastic (about 5 min.). Round up in greased bowl, greased side up. Cover with damp cloth. Let rise in warm place (85°) until double (about 1 1/2 hr.).
Pull into strips. Roll in lukewarm melted butter, then a mixture of white sugar, cinnamon, and (mostly) brown sugar, then tie in a knot. When all shaped, sprinkle with leftover cinnamon sugar mixture and pour over extra butter. Let rise again until almost double (about 30 min.).
Bake rolls at 400° for 12-15 minutes.
